After suffering a stroke
and being rushed to the hospital, Jay Traynor was diagnosed with Moyamoya, a rare brain disease that strikes one in every two million people.
Jay, a young newlywed, is in need of your help. The only known cure for Moyamoya disease is brain surgery. Jay's Brain Trust is a charity organization created as an opportunity to help. With limited financial resources and no health insurance, any and all donations will greatly help offset his medical expenses. We appreciate your contributions to this cause. Please do what you can to help out a great guy.
Thank You,
The Traynor Family

11/08/10 - Greetings Fellow Brain Trustees!
It's been a while since our last update!
Thank you to all who participated and donated to Jay’s Brain Trust in May, 2009. The Traynor family is so very grateful for all of your contributions and it has helped more than you know. We are touched by the outpouring of love and care shown for our family in our time of need.
Unfortunately, at the time of the fundraiser we could not predict that a second surgery for Jay would be necessary. Jay is recovering very well from both surgeries and is regaining his memory and speech abilities. However, his ability to work has been very limited during this time and he is yet again facing mounting medical bills. Because this was a pre-existing medical condition he could not obtain insurance, which is all too common these days.
So on Saturday, December 4, we are throwing a fundraiser for Jay one more time.
We realize that times are hard for many others and appreciate your participation if possible and, of course, your prayers.
Thanks again, and come have a good time with friends.

07/17/09 - Greetings Fellow Brain Trustees!
It’s been a while, but there is finally some good news to report. It’s been a long waiting game, but our patience has been rewarded with not one, not two, but three great items to share:
- Condell Hospital is floating the bill from Jay’s initial hospital stay!
- Jay has found a neurosurgeon, Dr. Demetrius Klee Lopes.
- Rush University, where the surgery will take place, will cover the patient portion of all expenses accrued over the next year!!!
Add all that up and that means nearly all expenses will have been covered! There are a few exceptions, but we think enough money was raised from the fundraiser to cover the miscellaneous costs, so once again, thank you to everyone who donated.
So now the only thing left is the surgery itself. A date has not yet been set, but an update will be posted as soon as one is scheduled.
The Traynor Family would like to thank Dr. Lopes, Condell Hospital and Rush University for their generosity and philanthropy in our time of need. Special mention needs to go out to Jay’s wife Heather for coordinating between the doctors and hospitals, for without her efforts and general ass-kicking all this charity might not even be possible.
And thank you to everyone who has kept Jay in their thoughts and prayers. Please continue to do so as we prepare for the biggest hurdle in this odyssey yet, the surgery itself.
05/03/09 - For those who are donating prizes for the fundraiser on Saturday May 9, please have them submitted to Heather Traynor by Wednesday, May 6. Thank you!
